Tuesday Or Not Tuesday, That Is The Question

Readers-  To be perfectly candid, I'm too wrought up to write anything like a cogent commentary today. Election day is tomorrow and the suspense is almost literally killing me. In the past four years, I've done my best to provide thoughtful evidence that Barack Hussein Obama needs to be replaced in office by someone who doesn't despise America and Americans, and at this point I'm nearly out of words to plead my case.

That's why I'm giving you a handful of cartoons to enjoy today as we all settle in for the final 24 hours before the Day of Judgement. Say your prayers, cast your votes, and hold your breath!

This 4-year nightmare will be over soon.

...and SJ now has the Secret Service kicking his door in because some liberals interpreted the first cartoon as a threat against Obama.

@Coon Tasty, If BO wins the election we will all have the Secret Service kicking our doors in. I'm glad my prediction of October riots giving Obuma a reason to declare martial law have proven false however there is always the backup plan if he loses the election.....Mass Riots that give him cause to not only declare martial law but also to hold off on the inauguration of the next POTUS....or should I say the first POTUS in 4 years?

Coon Tasty said...

I quite honestly expect that there will indeed be riots by Obama supporters. Frankly, they display a tribalist mentality that is frightening in its blind stupidity.

I also expect that the mainstream media will do their best to ignore it/blame it on conservatives/racism/capitalism.

I only wish that there was some recourse we could take against the MSM for violating their 1st Amendment responsibilitites, but the only thing I can think of is a massive boycott of their advertisers - money (or the lack thereof) is the only thing that will get their attention.

One only has to follow the Twitter conversations that have been published re: Obama's followers threats to riot and worse to truly understand the level of their mental prowness - they can't even come up with origional thoughts (but then if they could, they wouldn't support Obama)!

To the residents of NYC, to quote Justice Roberts, "Elections have consequences", y'all elected Bloomberg - deal with it!

Though I had never heard of the Washington Redskin home game election predictor as a valid result measurement, it gives me great joy to see that they lost their home game prior to the election, 17 out of 18 times the result has predicted the winner (and the one off was 2004 and one could argue that that was close).

Finally, thanks Stilton for providing a breath of fresh hope throughout these four years - I hope this forum will continue, albiet with a different theme - perhaps congresscritters can be the new target.

Ok, let just say by this time on Wednesday morning we wake up and discover Obama is now a lame duck President. Will Hope n' change ride off into the sunset?

TrickyRicky said...

Great set of cartoons this morning Stilton. My fervent wish is to wake up Wednesday morning to a Romnalanche so dicisive that there can be no question that the hordes of Obama lawyers could possibly have any effect whatsoever. The lameduck session still scares me, and apparently the EPA is working overtime trying to finalize the death of the coal industry, stuff that was scheduled for the next Obama administration but which will now be crammed down our throats in the next three months.

As for the riots, there may be some unrest, but most of those lib mental midgets would have trouble finding the way out of their parent's basement to actually riot.

Last but not least, especially if you live in a swing state, be sure to double and triple check your vote before you hit the submit button. If available, request a paper receipt showing how your vote was cast.

Cheers, and may we prevail in this attempt to stop our slide into socialist oblivion.

@Stilton,
Thanks for taking time out from your nervous breakdown to supply us Hope'n'changers with the Monday morning fix that we are so accustomed to. Great cartoons; especially Prince Harry! Has he not realized that he will most likely not be the Senate Dictator next year, even if BO wins?

@SeaDog,
Bloomberg is probably estatic. NOBODY is buying 32 oz drinks in NY!

@Ex-Expat,
If this goes the way we are fervently praying, hope and change has just started. We love ya, Stilton, and understand if you decide to take a break, but I'm sure all here will agree that we'd be eternally grateful for a continuation of your fine work.

I can't decide if the last cartoon is funny or scary.

Maybe a little bit of both.

There will always be uninformed idiots among us -- and some of them even get elected -- but let's hope the the American people have enough collective common sense to put the last four years behind us.

Angry Hoosier Dad said...

Four years ago, when the country elected Obama, I knew things were going to be bad. Little did I know just how bad. It is almost impossible to understand how anyone could want four more years of this, but many do. How many? We will find that out tomorrow. The two things that give me hope are the level of enthusiasm on the (R) side and the apparent sizable majority of independents moving to Romney. These are grass-roots indicators, not easily faked or staged. Give unto Caesar and vote. Give unto God and pray.

abbeyroadwalker said...

Stilton; God Bless you for all you’ve done up to this point to keep us all laughing, engaged, ENRAGED, and motivated. It’s not an exaggeration to say that without great Americans like you acting in the spirit of Paul Revere, millions of complacent folks in this country would never have imagined what a vile corrupt regime we’d fallen under.

When this pathetic little worm meets his destiny tomorrow, YOU can take pride and satisfaction in knowing that you played a major role in the preservation and rebirth of America as we know it. You are an American Hero!

Japheaux said...

Stilton: Thanks for the humor, honesty, sarcasm, and constructive cynicism the past few years. There are many days when the news about killed me, only to read your posts and recharge my batteries and reason for being.

Keep up the awesome work. May God Bless and may Wednesday's post be filled with fireworks and celebration.

...and in the words of the song in Team America...."Freedom isn't free....if we don't all pitch in our buck-o-five, who will?"

Stilton Jarlsberg said...

@drjim- That's what I'm hoping. It's the suspense that's killing me!

@Coon Tasty- I tried making the entirely metaphorical nature of the first cartoon clear by originally having the virgins say that Obama's political future would be arriving Tuesday, but that sucked all of the funny out of the gag.

@Dave David Schmoyer- If there are riots after an Obama loss, I can't imagine they'd be of the scope which would justify martial law (I just don't picture the Obama consituency having enough motivation to stick with it for more than a long weekend).

@Coon Tasty- If there are riots or demonstrations, the MSM will blame whatever alleged annoyance set them off, much the way Obama blamed Freedom of Speech (in the form of a video) for the successful terror attacks of 9/11 2012. And my worst case scenario would be that the rioters are allowed to riot (ie, the police are told by Washington to back off, as was the case with the Occupy vandals), forcing property owners to mount their own defenses. Shots are fired, a photogenic "martyr" is selected (ala Trayvon Martin), and then Obama would lower the boom on those who were defending themselves.

I'm not saying I expect this - I'm just saying my vivid imagination can sometimes be a pain in the keester to live with.

@SeaDog52- Freedom of the press is so important that our only recourse has to be not supporting the mainstream media with our dollars (including support of their sponsors). The MSM needs to wither away as consumers make better choices.

Regarding the threats to riot which I've seen, every one of them seems to be written by an utter moron.

@An Ex-Expat- Now there's a question: what next for Hope n' Change Cartoons? And the answer is - I genuinely don't know yet. Change of some sort is coming to these pages based on the election results. The entire purpose of this cartoon has been to try to keep peoples' spirits up through four years of hell, while trying to reach as many people as possible by Election Day 2012. And now, here we are. Rest assured, I'll let everyone know my plans once I've figured them out.

I voted when early voting started here on Friday.
As for election night, I am undecided whether to have a small watch party with a few friends, in the hope of being able to see "Special" Ed Schultz' head explode and Pissy Chrissy Matthew's commit suicide, or just go on to bed and catch up on the news on Wednesday morning.

Stilton Jarlsberg said...

@TrickyRicky- I'm hoping for a victory large enough to outweigh any shenanigans. And if that happens, I thoroughly expect an unprecedented display of lame duck sabotage from the outgoing president.

And although I don't live in a swing state, I promise you I triple-checked everything before finalizing my electronic ballot. Of course, part of that was just savoring the moment.

@Colby- Because I'm working on my first cup of coffee and have no eloquence, I'll simply say that Harry Reid is a weaselly little bastard who will punish the American people as long as he's able. The rat bastard. (See why I need coffee?)

@CenTexTim- The bottom cartoon is funny and scary at the same time. Sadly, because it's true.

@Angry Hoosier Dad- I never dreamed Obama would willingly do so much damage to our nation and future. I really expected a Jimmy Carter style presidency, with maybe an extra dollop of racial healing. Yeah, that happened, didn't it?

Like you, I'm encouraged by the "enthusiasm gap" we're seeing. The Right is fired up, and the Left is operating on fumes and reflexive habits. But still, too close to call.

@abbeyroadwalker- Your kind words are very much appreciated, even if I need to turn the amperage down a little. I'm far from a hero (heroes risk everything, and my sacrifices have been relatively small) but I'll modestly accept the mantle of patriot. Such impact as I might have made is minor, but is part of something bigger and more important. I wanted to do my part with the tools and sensibilities I had - and come what may tomorrow, I'm glad that I didn't sit quietly on the sidelines during these insane years of "Hope" and "Change."

Stilton Jarlsberg said...

@Japheaux- It's been my goal here to give people a laugh (whether a belly laugh, evil laugh, sad laugh, or whatever) in tough times - because our laughter really makes the other side nervous.

And yes, I'm hoping that Wednesday's cartoon will be flags and fireworks!

@SeaDog52- I love the astrologers line!

@Ogrrre- I'll definitely be watching the returns live on Tuesday and will stick with it until a winner is decided (and please, don't let it go all the way to the Supreme Court again).

And unfortunately, my TiVO is in the shop, so if Matthews has an implosion, I won't be able to enjoy an instant replay (so I'll be counting on YouTube the next day).

Pete D said...

God Bless, Stilton, and thanks! I've really enjoyed not only the cartoons, but also the community of commenters that you've collected. You've provided a space for us to meet, inform, grouse, cheer, and generally support each other, and it has been a sincere pleasure! Not sure what ever happened to Jim H, but his willingness to share his unique point of view and history was a rare gift. He's just one of the many folk I feel I've come to know a bit, over the past few years - Thanks, all.

Also, your strict policy of treating 'trolls' seriously and w/ respect so long as they "playes nice" was most commendable, a true and fine example of disagreeing w/o being disagreeable. Until they started calling names, falt out lying, or other examples of 'not playing nice' that bought them the whole great flaming crate of whoop-azz. Don't think I ever saw anyone who wanted to stick around after that. Well done sir! Hopefully, in just under 3 months you'll have 'plan next' figured and we can all still hang out. If you decide to take a much deserved rest, I'm sure we'll understand. Miss you, but understand.

Still, a question - some time back you went from 5 toons a week to 3, so as to have time to devote to another project(s). What ever happened there? you have a book coming out? Movie? Art exhibition? Opening a watch shop in the Bahamas? Enquiring minds want to know.... ((-'pb

Ogrrre: About four years ago, I went to bed hoping to awaken to the lesser of two evils. Of course I was in denial, as what can we expect from an electorate that twice voted for Bill 'I cheated off your test and banged your wife' Clinton. And in all three cases I found myself stunned, as if I could expect that spoiled milk gets better with age. Well, this time I'm going to lose sleep (or pass out drunk) and hope beyond hope that my vote counted for something. And truly, it would seem, that this time we may have managed to introduce a little culture into the mix, and our spoiled milk eventually becomes a batch of fine, sharp cheese.

Stilton/AHD: Oddly enough, when I first heard a sound-bite of this guy speaking very early in the 2008 primaries, I thought he sounded quite reasonable. But it was no time at all before I realized what a complete fraud he truly was, and had let it be known to all who could hear that I was convinced this was a real life 'Manchurian Candidate'... that if elected, he would actively pursue the assassination of our American way of life by first killing our economy. And nothing makes a liberty look expendable like starvation.

In fact, I knew we were doomed when it became clear that the MSM had abandoned Hillary and began bobbing on his knob.

Just a tidbit...
My 39 year old daughter and her 36 year old husband voted for the first time in their lives last week (for Romney). They have always been the "all politicians are crooked so why bother" types, but finally woke up this year. A person at work told me today that her 50 year old sister voted for the first time (Romney). I sure hope this is a trend happening all over the country (but only for OUR side!).

Stilton Jarlsberg said...

@Pete D- The community of commenters on this site is absolutely one of the best things to come out of the whole Hope n' Change Cartoons experience. And yes, I've at least tried to use logic and patience with those who disagree - at least as long as possible. But I think it's safe to say that I've never lost a flame war (here or over on Facebook).

Jim Hlavac took a break from politics for a bit, but we swap emails from time to time and he post regularly over on Facebook.

Regarding the publishing schedule, I was originally doing 7 a week - albeit with very little commentary. That changed to 5 times a week, but it was actually a bigger workload because I took the job of editorializing so seriously. That filled so much time that I finally had to cut back to the 3 times a week to give myself even a little time to try to earn a living. The projects included consultation work in the entertainment industry (he said vaguely), finishing up a novel, and development of an app. None of which, by the way, raised my income to an appreciable degree. But of course, success isn't measured by how many times you fall - but how many times you get back up.

@Mike Porter- I was in denial about Obama too, though I never thought he sounded reasonable - just inconsequentially (and quite deliberately) vague. We know a lot more now, and we learned it the hard way.

The MSM has betrayed our nation in a way which I, for one, will never forgive. Obama has not just been a bad president, he's been an anti-American president. And if he wins a second term, I believe that this country will be undone in real and unchangeable ways - because that is, and always has been, Barack Hussein Obama's goal.

Just wanted to say thank you for all you have done these last 4 years to inform the people of the danger to this country. Wow! Loved all of the comments, Stilton.
@SeaDog52 - the astrologer line was a good one - for me as well.
@PeteD - you're right - hoping Stilton was doing something productive for himself & his family.
Stilton - Although I read your cartoons every day back when there were 5 per week & although I printed out the "free" book of cartoons, I didn't realize I could comment on your blog. So I remained a mute, but committed, reader.
I'm delighted to have found a voice to your commentary & to that of your devoted fans.
It is my hope & prayer that Obama is defeated. I recall the 2004 election when I went to sleep believing Kerry had won due to the exit polling. I pray that we know the outcome before we retire for the eve - but, worst case scenario, awaken to learning that President Romney will lead our nation.
As for your blog, Stilton, I never missed a day (save for Hurricane Sandy) because it brought me real hope & lots of good laughs. You are a patriot - God bless you & God bless America.

I've always been of the mind that you are pretty much who you associate with. I looked at Obama's associations and friends and the people he grew up admiring (only possible with the help of Sean Hannity and the alternate media in 2008) and I quickly decided that Obama was absolutely wrong for this country. I was proven right, but I'm not happy about that. There are a number of libertarians (Paulbots) out there who claim there is scant difference between the way Obama "governs" and the way Romney will govern. Kinda explains why I'm not a libertarian, doesn't it?

@Weaver- Now there's a topic I could happily sink my teeth into!

@Irene Peduto- Thanks for the kind words, and I'm glad you found the "comments" section too! The Blogger/Blogspot interface has always been clumsy on this site (and has only gotten worse over time), but when I tried to teach myself how to use Wordpress to set up something different, I ran into the "Old Dog, New Tricks" brick wall. Eventually, I chose to concentrate on content rather than learning all of the bells and whistles of HTML coding, social media, and the rest of the whizbang stuff.

@SeaDog52- Jarrett and Iran, a match made in heaven. Not our heaven, mind you - the one with the 72 virgins.

@Angry Hoosier Dad- Obama's associates were damning, and were largely hiding in plain sight. But the MSM did so little vetting that they didn't even read Barry's autobiographies in which he spoke of doing drugs, disliking white people and actively seeking out radicals and revolutionaries.

The notion that Romney is anything like Obama is offensive and stupid. All politicians have to swim in the same fetid waters, but that doesn't mean that Mitt isn't sincere about his desire to turn things around - and he's got a lifetime of service to others which clearly shows he's nothing like the entirely self-involved Obama.

@TheOldMan- I wasn't familiar with intrade.com until now. Interesting concept, but not one I'll lose sleep over. Not that I'm sleeping well now...

@Stilt,

I have to echo the positive comments above regarding this blog. Much like with Scott Ott, some news can only be read when accompanied bye a heavy dose of sarcasm and/or humor.

I see no reason why Hope n' Change can't continue along (assuming the election goes well) with a broader set of clay pigeons to target.

I'd say that if the Republicans get the ascendancy, we hold their feet to the fire just the same. While some will rise above, we all know that most politicians tend to be the same: they give you a diuretic-based drink and want you to believe it's sweet tea.

Republicans doing a slow march to the same "Communist Nirvana" is no better than the express train of Øbama. And they are just as deserving of scorn. (And even without "the one," there will be plenty of liberals making stupid statements that will need to have the light of Truth shined upon them)

@Colby- Okay, this party is shaping up now! I'll bring the makings for S'mores, if someone else brings a flammable effigy of the guest of dishonor.

@SeaDog52- That WAS a great column by Peggy. Made Mrs. Jarlsberg cry (but in the good way).

I'm going into Election Day with optimism (confidence would be even better, but I'll take what I can get). Romney has run a good and honorable campaign, and he's done it talking about REAL issues. As Bill Whittle has pointed out, if we lose at least we'll do so having offered the American voters truth and a real choice. The voters may screw up, but at least we mounted a good and honorable ticket and ran on the truth. That counts.

@Dr. Jazz- That's got to be the best one-liner I've heard all day!

I will not rest properly until this wretched anti-American is dragged from the Whitehouse and the grounds are sewn with salt. And regarding the uplift of spirits, this has been a team effort and I've received more than I've given - for which I thank all of you.

@Sarah Rolph- I think there's a good chance of all of us getting together; if Mitt wins, he'll give us a table at the inauguration, and if Barry wins, we'll all have adjoining cells at Guantanamo. Either way...Par-TAY!
