When Hope n' Change reflects on the anniversary of 9/11,  we think of the New York skyline and are overwhelmed by the emptiness. Empty not just of the souls and structures which were once there, but a new and growing emptiness of resolve, national unity, and moral courage.

Over fifty of our nation's top intelligence experts are now complaining that their reports on the dismal progress being made in the fight against ISIS and Al Qaeda are being changed and buried at the topmost levels of government, so that the disconcerting facts don't conflict with the more calming, but entirely untruthful, narrative from the White House.

Barack Hussein Obama's utter failure to enforce his "red line" in Syria when Assad used chemical weapons marked the loss of our last shred of national credibility and opened the door for the rise of ISIS as well as the flood of refugees which is now changing the face of Europe - and quite possibly opening the doors to new acts of terror.

Meanwhile, Al Qaeda is decidedly not "on the run," and ISIS is issuing fresh threats of violence on 9/11 - a day of heightened watchfulness for terror for everyone except the White House and Hillary Clinton's State Department who utterly missed the symbolic significance of the date when considering security measures for our ill-fated people in Benghazi.

In terms of national security, our borders have fallen, ISIS terror cells are being investigated in all 50 states, and those in the highest reaches of government refuse to even speak the words "radical Islamic terror."

Instead, the president claims that nonexistent "manmade climate change" is the only real threat worthy of our national attention - not uncoincidentally because the end result of his climate change policies would be the same deconstruction of the United States sought by our enemies.

Which might be written off as an unintended consequence were it not for the fact that Obama, Kerry, Hillary, and a preponderance of Democrats have also joined forces to deliver $150 billion (plus another $75 billion a year in oil money) to the largest state sponsor of terror in the world.  And that's just for them to raise hell with until they complete their now sanctified nuclear weapons.

Many of us had our lives changed irrevocably on 9/11. But sadly, what should have been a galvanizing and uniting event for our entire nation has been forgotten or deliberately buried by too many. Painful truths have been lost in the blur of daily life, celebrity news, fiercely stoked domestic divisiveness, deceptive politicians, and a populace more interested in social media than social responsibility.

The emptiness in their souls is the same emptiness that we see, and will forever see, in that New York city skyline.

Laugh in the Fast Lane

Apparently "spontaneous" is better in a candidate than in an alleged demonstration.
There's finally good news for the many liberals who've been curled up in the fetal position quivering and weeping since comedian Jon Stewart quit The Daily Show in order to pursue his passion for clubbing baby seals.

And the good news for the comedy-starved is that Hillary Clinton's handlers (not a job you want to do without thick gloves and a stiff drink, by the way) have announced that she's now going to be funnier and more spontaneous on the campaign trail!

As an example of the kind of wild, rib-tickling, side-splitting laugh lines soon to be unleashed from Mrs Clinton's arsenal, her staffers cited a recent riposte about her hairdo: "The hair is real. The color isn't." Bwah-ha-ha! As her dear friend Ambassador Chris Stevens would say, "Stop! You're killing me!"

As far as spontaneity goes, we assume this means that the former Secretary of State will try to be slightly less obvious about robotically repeating the exactly memorized lines scripted to keep her out of the hoosegow. Where she once stammered, "I never sent...or received...any...material...by email... which was...marked...classified... at the time," she'll now spontaneously declare, "I'm pleading the 5th Amendment" and cue her traveling drummer to play a rimshot as she wiggles a straw hat in the air and tapdances out of view.

Frankly, Hope n' Change welcomes Mrs. Clinton's transformation from old villain to vaudevillian and we suggest that she make a recording of her new stand-up act to put online for her avid followers.

After all, who knows better than she does how inspiring a Youtube video can be.

Labor Daze 2015

If Lucy had been reading Hope n' Change over the past few years, she would have noticed how little has actually changed in terms of either hope or change in the job market. Because despite the statistical shell games which the government uses to claim that unemployment is back down to pre-recession levels, the sad reality is that far too many people remain out of work.

The workforce participation rate (measuring those of working age who either have a job or are actively looking for one) remains stalled at around 62.6% - the worst numbers in 38 years. That means that over 94 million Americans of eligible age are not in the labor force, compared to about 157 million who are. And in case you don't think that puts us in "tipping point" territory, consider that just last month, another quarter million Americans gave up trying to find work.

Despite the claims that Obama has been a huge job creator (hey, burgers don't flip themselves), there are over 13 million more people out of work now than the day he took office. Yet oddly, this president continues to insist that our borders remain wide open in order to supply (ahem) illegal workers desperately needed by our economy. But why?

The most frequent answer is that the illegals will do the jobs "Americans won't do." Which suggests that at least some Americans should be hungrier and more uncomfortable than they're currently feeling while on the entitlement system.

And of course, illegals are also "necessary" because the very unions which we celebrate on Labor Day (who give so very generously to Democrat candidates), have made it unaffordable for many businesses to employ Americans legally.

Make no mistake, Hope n' Change enjoys the Labor Day holiday as much as anyone. But this year, like in the other years of this administration, no one should be laboring under the illusion that America's employment picture is anything other than dismal.

Mother's Day and birthdays probably suck for Planned Parenthood, too.
